Junior rider Harvey Woodroffe was the first member of the Ely & District Cycling Club - B&T Motor Repairs racing at the weekend, taking part in the 3rd round of the Colchester Centurion Autumn Race Series held on a closed road circuit. Despite a number of attacks none of the riders were able to get away from the main field, leading to a bunch sprint to the line on the last lap. Woodroffe was held up in his sprint when the rider in front dropped his chain, but got around to take 3rd place overall.
Woodroffe was racing again on Sunday in the fourth round of the Eastern Cyclocross League race series in Welwyn Garden City. He and Lucas Bowman were in the Under 12 category, with Woodroffe taking his second 3rd place of the weekend and Bowman finishing in 14th. In the Youth race, Tom Lewis started from the front of the grid for the first time, but unfortunately his foot came out of his pedal on the opening sprint, dropping him back into the pack. Although he made his way up to 3rd place by the end of the opening lap the effort involved in working his way up through the field proved unsustainable, but he held on to 4th place at the end of the race. Lucas Bowman's father Neil was racing in the V50 category, and like Lucas he finished the race in 14th place.
